The organisers are now calling for expressions of interest.
Smailholm Village Hall will be hosting a curated art show, with a prize presented for the most outstanding piece.
We are asking for submissions of three dimensional work on the theme of Water. ‘Water’ can be interpreted in whatever way you would like; wherever your imagination takes you.
Materials can be any you choose, ceramic, glass, mixed media, fabric or even sound. The only restrictions are that it needs to be 3 dimensional and no bigger than 75cm x75cm x 75cm.
There is a non-refundable submission fee of £10 which covers up to two pieces of work. If you wish to submit more, this will incur further submission fees. If you have a larger or unusual shaped piece or a set of very small pieces that you would like to submit you may contact us to discuss it.
Submissions will be by photographs, accompanied by a short description of the work (size, material etc) and an explanation of how it is associated to the
'Water’ theme.
We request that submissions be sent in by early August. Our panel of judges will select the final pieces for exhibition and award a prize to the most outstanding piece(s) in mid-August.
After the judges have made their selection, artists will be required to deliver their work to Smailholm Village Hall in September,(date to be confirmed).
The selected works will be expected to stay in situ for the duration of the exhibition. A commission of only 10% will be taken on any items sold. The winning piece (or pieces) will also be eligible to be displayed in one of Live Borders 17 exhibition buildings.
We expect there to be press coverage of the event so artists should get further exposure for their work.
