Public Transport

Smailholm is far less well served by public transport than it was in Victorian times, when there was coach travel to and from Edinburgh every day, and train stations at Earlston, Kelso and Fans.  

The village is now served by SBC bus 84, to Kelso and back, Monday-Friday, leaving Smailholm Kirk at 9.13, arriving at Kelso at 9.50; and returning from Kelso at 11.50, arriving in Smailholm at 12.08.
